Palm Tree Details
Description: White Sand Palm (Dypsis psammophila) x Teddy Bear Palm (Dypsis leptocheilos)
By applying the donor pollen from a Teddy Bear Palm (Chrysalidocarpus leptocheilos- a palm native to rainforest in Madagascar) to the female flowers on a White Sand Palm (Chrysalidocarpus psammophilus also native to Madagascar over much of the island but usually found among coastal sand forests) the resulting hybrid seed grows to become a "Sandy Bear Palm". This combines the "Sand" from the mother with the "Bear" from the father. The mother palms have an especially purple crownshaft which is why they were selected for breeding.
Sun Requirements: Unknown. Probably half-day or filtered sun when young and then full sun in coastal environments once trunking.
Growth Rate: Moderate
Fertilizer: Moderate
Cold Tolerance: Unknown; probably USDA Zone 9b

Fantastic hybrid… can’t get these anywhere else. Great shipping.
