Palm Tree Details

Description: There is an unknown hybrid palm labeled as Dypsis sp. ‘White Triangle’ on the website PACSOA.org.au which is likely where the ‘White Triangle Palm’ first appeared in cultivation. The seed parent is Chrysalidocarpus cabadae (Cabada Palm) and the pollen parent is Chrysalidocarpus decaryi (Triangle Palm). Through manual cross-pollination we typically get 1 sellable plant for every in 10,000-15,000 flowers pollinated. We know it has been produced accidentally in the various Australian tree farms growing Chrysalidocarpus cabadae for the local landscaping trade.  Now, they are only being grown in gardens of those lucky enough to get their hands on them. There are an estimated to be only a few dozen or more in cultivation worldwide, including parks in Australia, private gardens in Southern California, and botanical gardens in Thailand and Australia. The White Triangle Palm should be able to take a few more degrees of cold than the standard Chrysalidocarpus cabadae (which is restricted to sub-tropical climates such as South Florida, South Texas, and Hawaii).

Sun Requirements: Full sun to shade

Growth Rate: Moderate when young; fast once trunking

Fertilizer: Low to moderate.

Cold Tolerance: USDA Zones 9b-11.

NOTE: You will see a picture with the 3 palms we currently have for sale.  Once you place an order, you may reach out to us to let us know which one you'd like.  First come, first served.  Some have more C. cabadae genes and some have more C. decaryi genes, but all are equally as beautiful.
